I would just like to make it abundantly clear that the new Alorya mailing list Liryen has started on YahooGroups is in no way connected with, supported by, or endorsed by myself or any of the other Aloryans I know.

Came across an old wordlist tonight with a few words that hadn't been added to the glossary. Mostly place-names and words derived from compounds. Updated the glossary with them for the sake of completeness. Did not include a smattering of non-Aloryan Elenari words that were also on the list.

Some vignettes of my memories from Alorya are now up in a new article titled Dancing with Memory.  For various reasons, I've decided I prefer such a fragmentary format rather than a "story so far" sort of format.  It both highlights the flashback aspect of past-life memories, the fact that they are not a coherent narrative, and it makes it far harder for unscrupulous sorts to insert themselves into the story.

So, I haven't had a lot of time to do magical stuff recently what with jobhunting.  But I find that from time to time I need to do something else to keep from driving myself insane looking at classified ads online.  Mostly I've been reading webcomics and playing some old computer games and watching some tv on hulu.com to help de-stress.  But last night I couldn't seem to fall asleep, and I felt drawn to do things a bit more metaphysical.

Magically, I do a lot of what I term "relational magic".  It's magic that involves links, bonds, and connections.   I base a lot of it on Huna's aka theory, though I also find concepts like the laws of similarity and contagion and name-magic to be quite useful.  I'm still working on blending these and other elements into a more coherent whole.

One of my side projects for the past year has been gateworking.  Having reverse engineered the Orgone Crystal Matrix, popularly known as the Reiki Matrix or Babalon Matrix, I've been curious about how it can be used for gateworking.  I've come to find out that it is primarily used for a form of gateworking that I would variously term shamanic journeying, pathworking, or spiritwalking depending on the context.

I'm exploring other ways to work with it for gateworking.  Presently, I am attempting to use it to strengthen the connection between this world and Alorya, an elven world I have memories of, by cycling energy back and forth through the aka cord that connects the two worlds.   Another way of looking at it would be that I am attempting to broaden the portal between the two worlds.  I'm not entirely sure if it will work or not, though the theory seems sound.  It is somewhat like exercises used in Huna and other traditions to strengthen the connection between the three aspects of the human soul.  Only the cord stretches out into a road... one which spans worlds.

Just an experiment for now.  Don't know if it will go anywhere or not.  But it's improved my mood from jobhunting somewhat, and that's magical enough for me.

I had a very interesting weekend. On Friday night, after class, I headed over to [livejournal.com profile] tlttlotd and [livejournal.com profile] lyssabard's apartment. [livejournal.com profile] kyoudai02 and [livejournal.com profile] technobushi, and [livejournal.com profile] hummingwolf also came, and we ended up hanging out for the night, talking, and just having some fun together. [livejournal.com profile] tlttlotd discovered MegaHal and began feeding it various blasphemous texts (such as his .plan file) and getting ideas to modify its source code. Early the next morning we discovered evidence that this may have been a dangerous thing to introduce a Time Lord to, as evidently the MegaHal he impliments in the future may travel back to the past and write the warning label for their air mattress, including such gems as advising its owners not to keep the air mattress where children cannot play with it.

On Saturday, after that interesting discovery (and after a great breakfast courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lyssabard, we all went to the Maryland RennFest with [livejournal.com profile] stardansr and [livejournal.com profile] hasufin. It's the first time I've been there in six years, and I definitely was not disappointed. We got to see elephants (yes, elephants, I was surprised too) and got some really nice food and hung out and explored all the little shops and everthing... didn't see the Pyrates Royale (the band which originally introduced me to filk) this year, but overall things were quite good. [livejournal.com profile] technobushi and I both bought shinai to eventually practice sparring with, and I bought thirty assorted honey sticks (killer bee, royal jelly, echinacea, clover, and blackberry), and a couple small gifts for [livejournal.com profile] queerintheburg.

Actually, had a rather unusual experience at the Fest, which seems to be getting weirder the more I find out about it. In addition to my other purchases, I decided to buy a bokken. I bought it from a store called Hollow Earth Swordworks. It was out front, on a rack with a couple of katanas. Very similar in style to them, although it did not have a tsuba and the grip was shaped somewhat differently. At any rate, it fit my tastes more than the katanas. I paid for it, and the gentleman handed me a registration card for it, and remarked to me that I had chosen an "elven fighter sword". Seriously, I am not making this up. As I remarked to the others who were there with me after I met back up with them, I kind of wanted to turn back to him and go "well... duh!" Of course if I had, the joke probably would have been on me: Later on, I was waiting for people to get a few last purchases so we could head out, and I was sitting with the sword, decided to get a feel for how energy flowed through it (one of the reasons I have been wanting a wooden practice sword is that for certain elements of my ritual work I have thought a quality wooden blade may be better for manipulating energy than the "sword" I currently have which is at best described as a metal bar filed into the shape of a sword.) I want to stress this part: I did not attempt to do any energywork on the sword itself. I was just feeling it out. Much to my surprise, it felt like someone had worked with the bokken's metaphysical aspects before me. And the feel of the energetics was rather interesting. Not mentioning my suspicions, I asked [livejournal.com profile] tlttlotd to see if he got any feel off of it, and the response I got back meshed very well with my interpretations of what I had felt. It feels very elven (which kinda surprised me, I thought the guy was just hamming it up a bit for the gamer-geek crowd at the Fest), maybe even Aloryan or something rather related though I'm reserving judgment on that point at present. And it gets even better... I've just visited the site of the sword maker. The kind of sword I picked up isn't even listed on it as being for sale. Not really sure what to make of that yet... maybe it's a new line that hasn't been added yet... but you'd think if you were going to invent a whole new fantasy sword line to appeal to gamers, you'd want to make it a fairly prominent part of your selection, wouldn't you? The fact that it wasn't on the site and wasn't labelled as an elven sword even in-shop really makes me wonder.

At any rate, it was a very interesting weekend and I'm very glad that I got the chance to go. I'll definitely have to do it again, hopefully sooner than six years apart this time.

On the car front, I have now purchased the 92 Geo Prizm, and insured it. I will retitle and register it and everything as soon as the insurance docs come in the mail, and then I'll be good to go. :)

I'm still musing on the issue of its Name. Remember, I'm naming this somewhat in Eyovah's honor due to the coloration and a desire to continue the trend of naming cars after Aloryans that I started with the Taurus, plus my own association of driving/cars with Eyovah which is somehow both very Wrong and very Right, somewhat like stirring glitter into his ashes was. ;-) I'm leaning away from Inguz, possibly entirely away from ones connected to the god Frey at the moment, though I'm not certain yet...I've looked back through archives and such, and the only other names he used for his elven side were Tassan, the origins of which I'm somewhat dubious about, and Liesin (possibly Tal Liesin, or Ta Liesin, yes the celtic connection has been noted), which I don't connect with my memories of Alorya at all.

This is going to require more thought, perhaps meditation even.

In the meantime, I've started to do some minor energywork on the car, though the majority of it is going to need to wait until it has been Named.
