Now, they want to start non-profits and "safe houses".

I don't even have the energy to explain to them why this is a bad idea, let alone the history of it being done before.

===Of course, did you grow up with Buffy and all the other things that would lead to an interesting otherworld worldview? I rather suspect that is where the idea of secrecy, safe houses, and such are....and the current run of anita blake and others.

===Seriously...they are not neccessarily idiots, but more misinformed and just dealing with folks online. What they do after getting adjusting information is where we start making judgement calls. First reaction to being landed on not the best, but not the worst I have seen. I will see how he is in a few weeks, or next we hear from him.

Buffy, yes. As a matter of fact, that was one of the analogies I used with my parents when I came out to them as otherkin. Anita Blake, not so much. Did have Angel and Charmed, though. Probably more than a few others I'm forgetting after nine years.

You're right, we'll see, but frankly I think what we'll see is the same pattern that always repeats... he'll go on to do it anyway, either with our support or without it. Nonprofits and safehouses, if incorporating as a religion is too much work. Some variant of the same thing. Just like the Elven High Council group did, just like HOPE did when it got called out before it even had a name (followed by HOPE-CORDE and Paranexus), etc etc. At every point he has shown that he expects others to "broaden" their definition of religion and admit their error, rather than consider the possibility he could be in error. He's also expressed some very strong fundamentalist views regarding Christianity, Ea, and the nature of faith itself. That's not a good sign, even remotely. Hawwa might be moderately more sane, but so far her talk of safehouses, nonprofit organizations, and how without us all united we can't do "great things" (as if every initiative someone comes up with is automatically a "great thing" and should never be shot down and only is because we're not "united") doesn't strike me as a good sign either.

Actually, correction, the safe houses and nonprofits was someone else. So she was just the one complaining that we'll never do great things unless we're united. I still don't think that's a good idea, it's practically identical to the thoughts Adara was having in the first place that led her to forming HOPE, but it's not as bad as if she'd paired it with the safe houses and nonprofits herself.
