No, I'm thinking more along the lines of using it in a similar way to "sexual orientation". Trying to see if it will be a useful paradigm to work with. I (and I think you and the rest of my friends) tend to see religious beliefs as a choice, an ideology one decides to follow or not, and should discard if it does not make sense and/or prove useful. But a lot of people don't approach religion in that manner, they approach it as something they inherit from their parents and have been instructed in from a VERY young age, long before they were able to make rational choices about it. Taken together, this can be roughly analogous to the genetic and environmental factors that are believed to be responsible for sexuality.
That explains why I still have hardcore fundy tendencies. (Relax, Jarin, I have not suffered a relapse into dominionism). I tend to subsume everything else in my life to religious activities, spend almost every weekend doing religious stuff, feel guilty if I don't consistently give money/time/service to my religious body, and constantly remind myself that I am an instrument/servant/tool of my Order.
Yeah, I sound like the Thelemite version of Opus Dei (minus the scary self-torture implements). *LOL*
This was all stuff I brought over from being a dominoinist, and it drives the other Order members up the wall sometimes.
