Pine cones are interesting things. They grow in spirals, starting from the base against the stalk and moving up to the tip. Each cone has two sets of spirals, one set of five or eight spirals moving in a clockwise direction and another set of eight or thirteen spirals moving in a counterclockwise direction. Where these spirals cross, there is a seed.
This is a literal truth, but it is also a very nice allegory. I look for the seed of truth where the spiral paths of different traditions, different ways of working, and different ways of knowing cross one another. Some days, I even find it.
Today is a good day. :)
