I just wanted to say thank you all for providing a very pleasant evening last night, even if I wasn't really myself or initiating conversations to the degree that I normally would. Some things had come up that morning which had me preoccupied. Dusk and I were woken up yesterday morning by a call from his father. The main barn of the boarding stable his mom works at burned to the ground overnight. All ten horses in that barn died, including two that Dusk and his mother owned. The cause of the fire is still unknown. He was out there with them for most of yesterday, and is out with his mother again this evening, trying to provide what support he can; though he's taking this pretty hard himself as well. I've been left feeling that there is very little I can do, but have done some metaphysical work to aid the families involved in healing and to help the souls of the horses lost in the fire. From what Dusk said, though the bodies were very damaged there seemed to be a sense of peace about them; he believes that they probably succumbed to the smoke and ended up dying in their sleep. From what I've been reading about spontaneous combustion of hay, and the properties of hayfires, I think he might essentially be right; if treated with certain chemicals hay when burned will give off cyanide gas. Even still, the transition may be confusing, and I thought the working for them was not out of place.
