My path at the moment seems to be leading me almost in a circle back to a situation I was involved in five years ago which did not proceed as well as I would have liked... oddly enough, I think that might be exactly where I want to be at the present moment, and the perfect place to move towards the future I want.

I'll post more on this later, when I figure out how to explain it all and am more clear on the details in my own mind.

Edited after a small amount of research: Maybe not going in a circle after all. Things have changed in the past few days and my previous information is no longer valid. Doesn't entirely rule out the possibility that my path will lead in that direction, but it may turn out to be an uphill battle to get there again. Will be looking into things.

Another edit, this one ranty: Will someone please explain to me how a website which I used to be responsible for, which hasn't been updated in well over a year, suddenly starts getting updated again just a few days after I notice that it hasn't been updated and start getting an idea to put together a few plans for possible ways to redesign and edit it? I know now EXACTLY where the previous webmaster and myself went wrong with that site, I know what the school's needs are for the site, and I have a clear image in my head of how the site would need to be redesigned to be made useful for the school in both the short and long term, as well as multiple ways to implement those changes. Granted, I hadn't quite gotten all the skills I would have needed to implement those changes yet, but I think I could have brought myself up to speed on it all in one to two more months judging by the speed I've gone through learning xhtml and css, and from the way the site was left derelict I thought I had the time to do that and to put together a really spiffy site plan to pitch to them.

It may still work out in the long term... the site still has a lot of broken sections and hasn't been edited much yet by whoever is the current webmaster so if it still looks like crap towards the end of the school year I might reasonably approach the administration with a selection of site plans that would meet both their needs and budget, but I'm reasonably certain from working with them myself that they would not terminate the current webmaster (almost certainly a student) in the middle of the school year if the site is being actively worked on in any way. And that will definately give me a good amount of time to finish boning up on the technology needed, though I intend to make myself knowledgeable in it well before then. It's just a little frustrating that I had such a good idea and then find them suddenly updating the site.
