There's a lot of magic in names.  The old lore is rich with it, and even many modern practices reflect that truth; for by names and images are all Powers awakened, and the beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names.

This is a truth of the internet as well.  You must know what you're searching for in order to find it.

My recent searches have been with one goal in mind: to find and index every active site (and in some cases valuable historic archives as well) in our community that doesn't completely skeeve me out.  (For example, sites evangelizing the Coming War meme?  Those skeeve me out.)  In this search I have relied on many names, old and new, familiar and strange:  Otherkin/Otherkind.  Sayuneldi.  Faeborn.  Faeid.  Invisus.  Immortals.  Inhumans.  Nonhumans.  Changelings.  Fairth.  Metahumans.  Awakened.  Angelkin.  Elvenkin/Elvenkind.  Dragonkin.  Satyrkin.  Faekin.  Fairykin.  Faerykin.  Selar.  Brightmoon.  Aelveron.  Elphame.  Alorya.  Krenar.  Elenari.  Draestari.  Tulari.  Listari.  Adrastai.  Endrastai.  Andrastai.  Konyrii.  Brnnn.  Incarnated Angels.  Earth Angels.  Starseeds.  Starborn.  Starpeople.  Walkins.  Wanderers.  Draconity.

These are the names I know, some rare and strange and powerful tools for searching and others as common as crabgrass.  What other names are there, that I might not know yet?

I've also seen Starchild(ren) - as either one word or two (Star Child).

I've been finding a number of weird ones. MDE/Multi-Dimensional Existence has been used for non-multiple fictionkin in soulbonding communities. Preternaturals popped up on one site, which of course reminded me of Paranormals. Incarnates, "Dual Forms", Homo Extriens, ECs (seems to be an acronym for Energycontroller but the author included a number of kintypes under that label)...

Also was reminded of an alternate spelling of one of the ones I already knew about: Saoneldi.

Well, from what I'm seeing the idea that we're a single community is really a misnomer... there are groups with little to no connection to the rest of the community, and specialized jargon is widespread in each of them. And that's without even getting into the folks who purposefully split away from using the term otherkin, like the faeborn. There may even be groups who have never heard of the main group, and had to come up with the terms they use completely on their own.

I'm mapping them as I find them, and hopefully having them all in one link directory will encourage communication between the various tribes.

Oh, yeah, missed one... Nightkind. "Tribes" reminded me of it because it made me think of Nightbreed. And I wouldn't be surprised if I find folks out there calling themselves that too.
