I think this has got to rank up there as one of the stupidest things I
have ever heard expressed by anyone, and it actually pains me that
this was NOT written by one of the trolls who started the thread:

If you want to be extreme about it, genocide
is a form of expression and therefore sacred. I consider free will to
be sacred, and pretty much nothing else. I have no right to stop
anyone from doing anything that doesn't directly harm myself or those
I care about. Technically genocide would be harmful to me, but I'm
speaking in broad terms.

Yes, someone actually wrote this on one of the mailing lists I'm on.

Lostkin. But please do not go there to continue the thread, it was started by trolls for the express purpose of starting a flamewar. This particular poster is an idiot, rather than one of the people trolling, but any response in the thread just feeds the flamewar they wanted, even justified responses.

*chuckles* Just making sure. There was one guy valiantly trying to make a stand against the idea of genocide being acceptable, not realizing that by doing so he was really just feeding the trolls and the idiots.

That's beautiful, and deep. ♥ Maybe someone should express themselves to that person, in broad terms.

Is a 2 by 4 broad enough?

If y'alld said no, my next question was going to be "what about tank treads? They broad enough?" ;-)

Oh man. Yeah. I mean, that one person was being a little, I dunno, vehement. They were purposely using a mode of expression that I would hope they'd have to know would set people off even if they agreed with the underlying idea (which I do, and I expect most people do). But wow. This was such a bizarre response.

... actually, the thread started out as being about genocide (a "who wants to kill all the humans" thread) and after another poster (not me, I know better than to feed this level of troll) posted a long and very vocal opposition to the idea, this person decided that he was wrong and genocide==expression and therefor sacred. Genocide was the underlying idea, free expression was just gloss being used to make it sound more acceptable.

Yeah, I saw that. I meant the person who was all "I don't care how passionate I sound!" I mean, I applaud that, but you'd think they had to know that couldn't turn out well.

*shrugs* Considering that the thread was started by a troll, I don't think any response to it could have turned out well.
