Upon trying to burn my new copy of Windows Vista to dvd, I was very disappointed to learn that its checksum did not match the file I was supposed to have downloaded. Almost three gigabytes, wasted. All for nothing. Then I got a bright idea... I fired up azureus, surfed around for a torrent reputing to be it, and initiated a download. After a few moments, I stopped the download and deleted the data file, replacing it with the file I had downloaded. Then, I forced a recheck of the file, bringing the download up to 99.8%. Then I restarted the download and let it go on its own for several hours. It had downloaded, and was in fact seeding when I came back to it. This time the checksums matched perfectly. And now, I am burning it. Wish me luck.

Edit: Well, it doesn't look like I am going to be lucky... I get a blue screen not long after I try to boot from the dvd. It's possible it's simply my system, I'm trying to run it on an older box that is near the limit of what Vista is supposed to be compatable with. It may easily be on the wrong side of that limit. I'll save the disk and give it a try if I ever get a better system to work with. (Still drooling over the new Intel macbooks ;-))

Did you boot to the dvd? I had a problem with the beta not wanting to boot from the dvd, but when I loaded it under xp, and then let it reboot itself, it worked fine. Wish I knew why.

Of course, the drivers for my SB Audigy ... weren't exactly.. worky. So I gave up on Vista, because I like sound.

Yeah, I booted from the dvd... got it loading files, then got the Windows startup screen, then bluescreen of death. I don't currently have a copy of xp to boot from (I run linux at home, and one of my classmates has borrowed my XP install cd) but I'll give that a try as soon as I have the chance.
