"Liking or not-liking an elf is like liking or not-liking a mountain. An elf or a mountain simply is and you must accept that."
--Rick Cook, The Wizardry Cursed

Now, I realize this came from fiction, but when applied to certain elves I have known.... hmm... ;-)

doesn't that sort of apply to everyone/thing though? What other reasonable options are there?

I think that's true to some degree, but, well..
the concept seems to apply far better to Kyrin than to most people, for example.

Only because if you expect him to change, he'll have something loud and memorable to say about it. If you tried to get me to change, I'd walk away quietly, but I still wouldn't change. And i can't think of a single individual I know who would change... even the ones who think they'd try.

People can certainly be influenced. I've seen Kyrin be influenced. But then, it's also possible to influence a mountain.
