Went to a Reiki Share at Sticks and Stones last night. My first one in years; I haven't been to a non-otherkin Reiki event since I lived in New Jersey, 2002-2003. It was exactly what I needed.
The share was pretty sparsely attended... Gwendolyn, one of the owners of Sticks and Stones, facilitated it along with another Reiki Master. More on her in the next paragraph Then there was myself, attending for the first time, and two folks that just walked in and were interested. But I have to say, I really enjoyed the format. Everyone received a full Reiki treatment, with everyone present participating (even those who have not received formal attunements). I thought it went very well, and quite frankly I needed it. I really can't remember the last time I received any form of Reiki other than an attunement, and I'm not sure I've ever actually received a full healing session from anyone other than myself. It was nice to just lay back and let others work on me, and I do feel a lot better today than I have in quite a while. It's a good feeling, and I'll definitely be going back again.
I also had the chance to meet (the other Reiki Master attending) the first person I've ever run into in-person who's attuned to Imara Reiki and was not attuned directly by Eyovah or Rialian. I've known the system is spreading, I've found websites mentioning it that are based in Sweden and Japan before, but I just haven't run into anyone face-to-face until now from one of the later... what's the right term here, "generations"? We compared what we knew about the system a bit, exchanged contact information, and I gave her a printout of my Imara notes so she could compare it with the manual she'd been given. Next time I talk with her I need to remember to ask her if anything was added to the system as it was transmitted to her. I'd like to see the directions people are taking it in, and the ways they've adapted it. I'm really glad to see it out in the wild, actually being *used*. She's also attuned to Lightarian Reiki, which isn't a system I'm familiar with. May have to find out more about that...
