I looked at the issue of nonviolence from the opposite side today, to try to reconcile some of the problems I have with it by turning my issues on their head. Learned some interesting things that I wanted to archive here. Mostly in the form of questions I needed to ask myself.
Robin Hood is a hero. He used violence to achieve his ends. Doctor Who is a hero. He (mostly) used nonviolence.
Who is the bigger hero?
If there is no clear better hero, perhaps the circumstances differed enough to warrant different methods?
What is worth fighting for?
How does all of this map to the internet and forms of interpersonal communication where violence is not literal but can still cause harm?
What is internet "violence"?
What is worth fighting for on the internet?
