Could someone please recommend some stress management techniques for when you're too tired, stresed, or angry to meditate? Preferably ones that do not involve hitting things, please.

No, I don't think picking up a weapon right now would be a good idea either....

===Music...preferably with head-phones if you can do a tape of something...(I like Gabriel Roth or some-such..)...find an area that you are not going to hit things while moving...close eyes, and let your body react to the music as it wants to. Not as a normal accepted "dance"...but as the rythms lead you as it calls...no matter what sorts of moves are involved. Simply let them flow as they will.

Music. I like angry music like Offspring or certain Faith No More songs when I can afford to spend some time raging. When I need to calm down fast, something happy-soothing or happy-upbeat does it for me. It also helps to dance if nobody else is around.

Speaking of dancing, adrenaline was Dom's favorite upper. Take a walk or move around, maybe tai chi or whatever.

Reading jokes and comics was always a favorite of mine, too. If you're all caught up on Sluggy Freelance, you could try another one... there are plenty of good ones out there. I just found one called "Roomies From Hell" that's rather addictive.

*chuckles* At the time, that wasn't really practical... unfortunately, my grandmother can overpower even headphones specifically designed to keep out outside noise... but now that she's in bed, I am downloading and listening to tons of filk, which is helping. :)

Btw, that reminds me... found a song for you, Ri: Cthulhu Light FM by Tom Smith. :) *giggles* :)

I definately definately need to learn Tai Chi sometime when I have the chance... I've been meaning to for years, but I just haven't had the opportunity.

Sluggy isn't really my thing... might have to go get caught back up with eversummereve, though... :)

I'm set up pretty well with a low-stress homeplace, but when I get overwhelmed when visiting relatives or at work, I usually go outside and find a tree to lean against. When there are no trees around, I just stand in the middle of a parking lot and look up at the sky. Stars are nice, but I can usually find dragons in clouds. Rain, snow, wind, make music if I listen to them (instead of to the rants going through my head of all I want to say but can't).

That usually gives me enough calm, peace and energy to go back in and deal. I tend to overstress when surrounded by loud people and appliances (TV, radio, mp3s), so I don't use music that often (when I do, it's Enya or low-key classical harp/guitar)

Hot water is also good (shower, long scented bath)- although usually not unless you have your own private bathroom without interruptions.
