On today's episode of Only In the Life of a Spirit-Worker, I submit the following: My car died this weekend.  Badly.  It would cost me more than three times what I paid for it to repair it.  It did so on a long trip, but within 2 miles of my destination.  I have AAA so it cost me nothing to have it towed and the friends I was meeting were able to come and pick me up from the AAA car care center.  Another friend was able to give me a lift home the next day, and my employers were nothing but understanding.  In addition to this, I've already located a new car in my price range which should actually be a step up from the one I had in many ways, despite being older and with more miles on it.  All of the reviews I've found for this make and model of car (Honda Accord) are nothing but glowing.  I should hopefully be able to get out to the owner, test drive it, and if everything is ok purchase it sometime this week.  It's only known issue is with the driver-side window.  So this will be a record for replacing a dead car for me.  On top of that, I just got my paycheck for May and it was larger than usual due to some errors with witholdings that had previously been too high.  On top of that, I've been informed that I can sell my old car to a particular junkyard up near where it broke down for close to what I paid for it, though I will need to pay for it to be towed there.  And on top of that, I just received a belated check for my birthday from my Aunt because she sent the original to an old address which represents a little over a quarter of what I'll be paying for the new car.  All of which adds up to this being the absolute perfect time for this to have happened.
