I have implemented a number of spam fighting tools at dreamhart.org,
linked from the temporary index page. The link directs bots to dalek.dreamhart.org. I though
the name was fitting, as the point of the page is to exterminate
spambots, referred to throughout as "cybermen" in keeping with the
doctorwho theme started by naming the subdomain dalek. On that page
are a number of links to spamfighting tools which poison spammer's
databases by including fake email addresses. Several of these are
offsite, and two of them are script-generated and located on
dreamhart.org itself. To further sweeten the pot for the unwary
spambot, I'm in the process of creating a long list of email addresses
on that page using semi-random names @ dalek.dreamhart.org, the mail
server for which is byork.dalek.dreamhart.org, which has an address
record of 127.0.0.1 (had to do it that way since dreamhost wouldn't
let me just set the MX record to an ip address.) Some of the names
are myself or those of friends (used with permission), others are from
the doctor who series to further the general theme.
If there's one thing in the universe that deserves to be exterminated,
it's spam. :)
Ex-terminate! Ex-terminate!
