Is there a cure for painful mental associations? I just realized that a magical working a friend did neatly matches something from a fiction book I read when I was much younger, and I'm reasonably sure he hasn't read that particular book (or at least had not at the time of this working).

Great. Now I'm gonna associate godzilla with vrondi and [livejournal.com profile] rialian with Vanyel.

Some things just should not be.

For those not aware, in the Herald Mage series by Mercedes Lackey, the main character Vanyel creates a barrier to keep malicious magic-users out of his kingdom: the way this works is, the spell he set causes a bunch of invisible air elementals known as vrondi to gather around and watch them, so it feels like there are eyes on them at all times, which will eventually make them so uncomfortable they are driven away. A rather ingenious way to keep people out without real confrontation, actually.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] rialian's mind apparently works quite similarly to Vanyel's. A number of years ago, he created a bunch of servitors in the shape of tiny godzillas. They are set to pursue people who maliciously spread false information about others. They feed off the gossip, and hang on the gossiper. Giggling. Simply giggling.

*wonders if I should now rewrite their theme song to the tune of "Vrondi's Eyes"....but can't think of what word in that song to replace with "Godzilla"...or "giggling"*
