I found something else neat I inherited from my grandmother while packing. Corningware... I guess they can be called pots and pans... they all have glass lids and are made out of some sort of ceramic, but on the bottom they say they can be used in both the microwave and on the range. I've never seen that combination before, usually it's microwave and oven. I've also never seen ceramic stuff for the range before. I kinda like that... might have to try them out sometime. I don't believe I've ever used them before. They're kinda small, though. The largest pot is one and a half pints, the smaller pot is one pint, and the pan is six and a half inches. Might be useful for some things, though. Little worried about how hot the handles might get, since they're all one piece, but I use pot holders anyway usually.

... there's no kind of health concerns related to ceramic cookware like with the teflon and aluminum stuff, are there?

Oooh, and I just found some sort of glass, Corning deep-dish thingy with glass lid that I THOUGHT was a cake-holder but whose bottom says it can be used in the microwave, in the oven, on a rangetop, and in a freezer! That doesn't sound like just a cake-tray to me! Even if I'm pretty sure that's all my grandmother ever used it for....

Organic vegetarian sloppy-joes == BAD. And while there was a slight resemblance to chili, adding beans to it did NOT help matters any, though part of that is 'cause I hadn't noticed that these particular beens were provided in a ham broth rather than your normal water or oil. Blah. That so did not mix well. As soon as it cools, I'm tossing the whole batch out and trying this lunch thing again....

Well, it looks like I now have a place to stay for a bit till I find an apartment somewhere in the greater DC/Baltimore area. [livejournal.com profile] rialian has generously invited me to stay with him for a little while once my lease here ends. *grins*

At the moment, things are looking pretty good on the moving front. When I left my job at RGIS, I was assured that they would be happy to transfer me to another branch of the company once I figured out where I was going and got settled there. That same morning I also got a call from Adecco asking me if I was still looking for a job in the area. When I explained I was moving, they said that if I wanted another job from Adecco I should just go to the local office wherever I end up and tell them I'm already in the system here. So I've got two very good job prospects already lined up wherever I end up settling.

The way things are looking now, I'm leaning a bit away from getting an apartment with Duo/Solo... they don't have quite as much money to get an apartment as they thought they did, so unless we found something really cheap it would be hard to swing. So currently looking for an apartment I can afford myself (seen some possible ones already) or even one that Dusk and I can share if he happens to be hired soon. Probably going to be focusing more on the VA side of DC, just because of the obvious benefits to me of being able to keep my car insurance and registration and title and plates rather than paying for new ones so soon after getting these, but if I see something cheap enough on the MD side or even in DC proper I'd definitely still consider it.

All in all, things are looking well, and I'm hopeful that this move will go smoothly enough. In many ways, it's going to be my first real move, moving from one household that is all mine to another that is all mine, rather than just moving out of my parent's house. Wish me luck. :) And, as before, if anyone is interested in looking into getting an apartment together in that area, or already has an apartment in that area and is looking for roommates, please let me know. :)
