It is a awesome thing indeed when one's reading of Aristotle's Rhetoric begins to combine synchronistically with one's reading of Guerilla Marketing for Writers to synthesize new approaches to the art of persuasion in one's own mind. While one is in the shower, no less.

Much will come of this line of study, I think. More later.

It is becoming apparent to me that America just does not have the proper vocabulary to deal, diplomatically, with the middle east. We are a nation who largely sees events of thirty years ago as "ancient history" that should not affect modern politics... how on earth can we even begin to effectively communicate with societies whose group-memory spans back thousands of years and who are not willing to let go of their history the way we have begun to?
