Ya know, being brain-dead and exhausted after seven hours of work on a fairly busy night at a job you really love working at is kinda like the feeling you get after really good sex, when you just want to pass out but you know there will be a big-ass smile on your face when you do.
I got left in charge of the store today. My manager needed to run out and get some items we'd run out of, and I literally was left in charge of the crew while she was gone. It was only for like fifteen, twenty minutes but still... this is like my fourth or fifth day of work there, being left in charge really shows their faith in me. Especially since the other workers there actually did look to me for answers to questions and solutions to problems while she was gone. I am really really happy with the way this is working out.
I'm also devoting a portion of my time to brainstorming ways to help increase the customer flow... Spanky's of Harrisonburg is recovering from some problems caused by a previous manager who embezzled a great deal of money from the store and did not pay the bills properly, alienating a lot of our suppliers. We're under new management now, and recovering, but we really need to regain a stable client-base and keep them if we want to survive in the long term. Haven't come up with anything concrete yet, but I'm confident that it can be done and I think the key is going to lie somewhere in Spanky's past strengths if we can just figure out what made us popular in the past and harness that again.
