Reading the Book of Thoth.... think brain exploded a while ago. Crowley's writing style beginning to sound like english to me.... mostly, anyway.
Might actually get my basic notes on the tarot written out before heading out to Minnesota. This is good, since my mother wants me to do a reading for a friend of hers out there sometime this summer. Considering that every reading I've ever done has been with reference book for the deck firmly in hand, I'm not especially comfortable with the idea of giving a reading to a stranger, but I'm trying to use it as a reason to spur my studies on since I very much want to get to the point where both book and notes will not be necessary for readings.
I'm focusing presently on the minor arcana... each of the numbered minor arcana is an aspect of a sephiroth on the tree of life, and each suit corresponds to an element, so by learning the root meanings of each sephiroth I can derive the individual elemental associations and the overall meaning for the card. The four ranks of the court cards each represent an element as well, so their meanings can be derived by the elemental pairing formed by their rank and suit. Finally, the major arcana represent paths between the sephiroth so by learning the sephiroth I can in theory derive the meaning of the path that joins them. Thus, the minor arcana are the key to the quickest way of interpreting the meanings of the whole tarot.
Either that or I've stayed up too late reading Crowley and I'm seeing patterns where there aren't any, but I'm pretty sure this is all right 'cause I've read it before in The Witches Tarot and The Witches Qaballah by Ellen Cannon Reed and I discussed some of this with Arhuaine earlier today who agreed with it.
Hmm... I should probably sleep, but I have more reading to do. Mind-altering texts or sleep, mind-altering texts or sleep... decisions, decisions....
