Alright, I just got back word from [livejournal.com profile] rialian that there is plenty of room for more workshops at Thresholds since no schedules have been finalized yet, and that my proposal for a workshop on the Huna system of Hawaiian shamanism sounds good to him. So, assuming I can get it organized in less than one month (and I'm feeling strangely confident about that considering all my books and original notes on the subject are in a different state than I am at the moment) there will be a presentation on Huna at this Thresholds.

As a brief overview so that people can decide whether or not they are interested in attending, Huna is a system of shamanism based on harmonizing conflict. This is in contrast to the forms of shamanism that focus on personifying problems as enemies and defeating them. The distinction between the two paths is basically summed up in their titles... Hawaiian Shamanism being referred to as the way of the adventurer, and the more confrontational forms of shamanism often being referred to as the way of the (spiritual) warrior.

For those who have been to other Thresholds, there was a previous workshop at Walking the Thresholds 2 by Eyovah which discussed the Ho-o-pono-pono forgiveness exercise, a Huna technique. My own workshop will focus more on Huna as a magical system than on its healing aspects, and will primarily focus on the principles which are the basis of Huna rather than on its specific techniques, for reasons that will be further explained in the course of the workshop itself.

I hope that quite a few people attending Thresholds will be interested in attending this workshop. If there are any questions about the Huna workshop, please feel free to contact me either in the comments of this post or in private email. I can be reached at jarindreamsinger@yahoo.com.
