The first is rather obvious again: The Holy Grail, and the legend of the wounding of the High King and his subsequent healing with the Grail. This legend, reflecting King Arthur, uses a lot of Christian imagery, but I understand the themes involved actually predate that and are celtic in origin. Again, a symbol of the healing power inherent in water. Relating to that, though I might be stretching more than a bit for this one, is the fact that the word for life energy in Huna is mana, which is symbolized by water, while the name of a god of the sea who is also connected with the healing arts in Celtic myth is Manannan.
Secondly, according to one source of information I stumbled across on celtic healing techniques, the number of joints, sinews, and bones in the human body, from which the healing herbs grew when Miach was slain, is 365 and is equal to the number of acupressure points on the human body in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I need to check if that number is accurate for both the legend and the TCM accupressure points still, however.
Lastly, I came across this interesting tidbit which might actually provoke an interesting response: "the Primal Goddess Aine who was believed to be responsible for the vital spark of life that travelled the entire body ever 24 hours"
I'm not entirely certain that this refers to mana, but it certainly seems to be a distinct possibility.
Oh, I was wrong, that wasn't the last thing... there also seem to be some sites which try to correlate the cauldrons of poesy with chakras... I'm still not sure what to make out of that one. Awen, described as "flowing spirit" as well as "poet's gift", certainly does seem like it could fit the definition of mana, but it seems like it has more connotations of inspiration than of healing... then again, I'm not prepared to rule it out as a possible equivalent term just yet. Even in huna there are multiple types of mana and multiple uses for it... I'm not entirely clear on whether or not inspiration is one of those, but it could be depending on how you interpret certain information. (Like the idea that mana helps you maintain contact with your higher self, and the seperate idea that the higher self is responsible for inspiration.)
Exploring this subject is becoming more and more interesting... but I may need to figure out a way to start organizing this info before it overwhelms me. It keeps multiplying! :)
